Springtime Awakening

Spring has definitely arrived. When I go out in the morning darkness and can hear the beginnings of a hundred bird songs. All singing to bring up the sun. Then in starts the peeping, croaking song of the frogs.

That’s how you know it’s Spring. All the songs that it brings. It really feels like they are singing the sun up into the sky. Singing the trees and plants up out of their sleep.

The squirrels are running around my yard and I saw a fox too. The vultures have arrived, I always see them as a harbinger of Spring. As an herbalist and nature being this is when I really start feeling antsy. I want to twirl and dance to all the songs.

Already my sweetgrass is growing and my stinging nettle. I found tiny cleavers , chickweed, motherswort, chamomile and so many other sprouts. Can’t wait for the bounty they provide in food and medicines.

Isn’t nature wonderful ?!
